The UK Mission in Geneva represents the United Kingdom at 37 multilateral organisations, covering human rights, disarmament, health, humanitarian, migration, and trade and economic policy. The Trade and Economic team specifically represents the UK at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other economic organisations in Geneva such as UNCTAD, WIPO, UNECE, and ITU. The Mission is a busy and vibrant workplace at the heart of the multilateral landscape, prioritising dignity, respect, inclusiveness, empowerment, teamwork, and kindness. It is recruiting one highly motivated Trade and Economic Intern to contribute directly to the team's policy, research, and administrative work. Monitoring WTO and UN meetings, negotiations, press conferences, and events. Drafting clear, concise reports and circulating them to UK Government policy leads. Supporting the planning and delivery of trade-related events and high-level visits. Managing and triaging the Trade Team inbox, ensuring information reaches the right stakeholders. Providing general administrative support to keep the team running smoothly, including supporting administration for regular visitors from London. Getting involved in corporate activities across the Mission, such as major events including the King's Birthday Party. Essential: Fluency in both oral and written English at minimum C1 level (CEFR). Bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally in Trade, International Development, or International Relations. Demonstrated interest in global trade, international economics, and geopolitics. Open, cooperative attitude and positive team player with initiative and curiosity. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Experience in drafting, writing, and/or reporting. IT literacy and comfort with Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Willingness to undergo a mandatory security check. All applicants must have permission to live and work in Switzerland. Desirable: Prior relevant volunteering or work experience in Trade, Diplomacy, or within the multilateral system. Knowledge of French or another UN language is an asset. Full-time internship for 11 months based at the UK Mission to the Office of the United Nations in Geneva. Monthly training allowance of CHF 1,450. Contribution to travel insurance for the duration of the internship in lieu of private Swiss health insurance.
