The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global authority for the environment within the UN system. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, UNEP works on sustainable development, fiscal policy, and public finance to support environmental and economic objectives globally. This internship sits within the Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development job family. Support the work of the UNEP team on sustainable fiscal policy and public finance. Duties and responsibilities are aligned with the Economic Affairs (and Sustainable Development) job family and will be communicated upon engagement. Tasks may include research, data analysis, report drafting, and policy support related to sustainable finance and fiscal topics. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for UN internship programmes. Enrolment in a graduate or undergraduate degree programme, or recent graduation, is typically required. Relevant academic background in economics, public finance, environmental studies, or a related field is expected. Language proficiency as specified by the UN is required. This is an unpaid internship (No Fee) with the United Nations Environment Programme in Geneva, Switzerland. Interns gain hands-on experience working within a leading international organisation on sustainable fiscal policy and public finance issues at a global level. The role offers exposure to UN operations and the broader sustainable development policy environment.
