The Desk Assistant role sits on the Futures and Options desk in Geneva, with a focus on Rates and global derivatives markets. Assist brokers with day-to-day tasks associated with executing trades. Provide administrative and operational support to the Futures and Options broking team. Input trades into internal booking systems. Send information to clients and collate data. Liaise with clients via telephone and in person. Assist with client development and business generation. Monitor markets and follow financial news and developments. Adhere to all relevant regulatory obligations, internal compliance frameworks, and desk-level procedures, maintaining transparency and a controlled, compliant manner at all times. 1 to 2 years of experience in a front office environment. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). Demonstrable interest in global financial markets, particularly listed interest rate futures and options. Understanding of interest rates and macroeconomics is advantageous. Strong interest in commodity markets, trading, or broking. High level of attention to detail, especially in a trade-processing environment. Comfortable working in a data-heavy, high-pressure environment. Strong proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, VBA preferred). Experience with coding or scripting (Python, VBA, or similar). Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualisation tools. Strong analytical mindset and numerical skills. Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills. CISI certifications are considered advantageous. Personal integrity, resilience, self-motivation, and the ability to work collaboratively as a strong team player. The opportunity to work on a live Futures and Options desk at Aurel BGC in Geneva, gaining hands-on exposure to global derivatives markets, trading workflows, and client service. The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of futures and options products and market dynamics while working closely with experienced brokers. The role offers a clear pathway toward a broking career within an established institutional brokerage with both local expertise and global reach through BGC Group.
