BSS Volkswirtschaftliche Beratung AG is a consulting firm based in Basel addressing key societal issues. The firm works with public administration, companies, associations, and international organizations on topics including public finances, labor market and migration, health, education, social security, location attractiveness, economic growth, environment, climate and energy. Participants will engage in project work (50%) related to public finances, migration, health, education, and social security. Simultaneously, candidates will write their master thesis on site (50%), with topics and data for empirical analyses provided where possible. Tasks include assisting in research and contributing to empirical analysis using Stata or R programming. Candidates should be students of economics and social sciences with above-average performance. Strong empirical skills and programming knowledge (Stata or R) are required. Native German language proficiency is essential, with French skills as a plus. Interest in society, politics, and economics is essential. Good oral and written communication skills, flexibility, and resilience are expected. This is a 6-month internship plus thesis program combining project work with master thesis development. The program runs twice yearly with typical start dates in February and August. A competitive internship position is offered with the opportunity to develop empirical research skills while completing academic thesis requirements.
