About

Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking (SGCIB) is a leading investment bank operating across global markets. This VIE (Volontariat International en Entreprise) position is based in Geneva and sits within the Trade and Commodity Finance (TCF) department, which is part of the GLBA business line. The department is responsible for financing traders and commodity players/processors, as well as providing trade finance solutions to protect these clients against non-payment risk. Societe Generale is committed to fostering talent and innovation, offering young professionals a stimulating and internationally oriented career accelerator experience. Support the Trade and Commodity Finance (TCF) Front Office, with a particular focus on TRA (Transactional) activity. Understand traders' flows, types of operations, and specifics of transactional trade finance products and commodity flows. Gather information from multiple sources (company accounts, market reports, Bloomberg, internet) on potential counterparts — corporates and banks — and target countries. Perform detailed analysis of corporate and financial institution profiles (market, business, competition, organisation) and review historical audited accounts. Assist in the preparation of credit approvals and financial analyses to support deal structure evaluation. Under the supervision of the TSC TRA Front Officer, prepare and send price quotations to customers on certain transactions. Execute all KYC tasks related to TRA activity, including launching AOFs and responding to PCRU queries regarding KYC status. Participate in the preparation of credit applications and spot approval requests for deal execution and line renewals. Gather information to assist in the preparation of management reviews and reporting, including NBI, Tomcat clean-up, RWA checks, and responses to PCRU requests. Candidates must hold or be in the process of validating a Master's degree (M2) from a Business or Engineering School or University — formal proof of diploma validation is mandatory before the assignment start date (grade sheets are not accepted). Some market knowledge and experience in investment banking or financial services is expected. Fluency in English is required. Good communication and presentation skills are essential, along with a proficient command of MS Office. As per VIE programme rules, candidates must be under 28 years of age, be nationals of a member state of the European Economic Area, and cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship. Applications must be submitted in English. This is an 18-month VIE assignment starting November 1, 2026, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The role offers immediate integration into expert teams with daily on-the-job learning and progressive autonomy, making it a real career accelerator. Participants gain exposure to the full diversity of Societe Generale's business lines in a constantly evolving and innovative sector. At the end of the VIE, various career opportunities may be offered both in France and internationally. Employees can also dedicate several days per year to solidarity and social impact actions during working hours. Financial indemnities are governed by the Business France VIE framework (see Mon VIE-VIA Business France for details).
