Societe Generale is a major international banking group committed to supporting its clients across a full range of banking and financial services. This V.I.E. (Volontariat International en Entreprise) position sits within the Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) division, specifically in the Trade and Commodity Finance (TCF) department based in Geneva. The TCF department is responsible for financing traders and commodity players/processors, as well as providing trade finance solutions to protect against non-payment risk. The V.I.E. programme is administered under Business France and is open to candidates under 28 years of age who are nationals of a European Economic Space member state. The assignment cannot be taken up in the candidate's own country of citizenship. Support the Trade and Commodity Finance (TCF) Front Office, with a particular focus on the TRA (Transactional Risk and Advisory) activity. Key responsibilities include: understanding traders' flows, types of operations, and specifics of transactional trade finance products and commodity flows; gathering information from various sources (company accounts, market reports, Bloomberg, internet) on potential counterparts (corporates and banks) and target countries; analysing corporate and financial institution profiles (market, business, competition, organisation) as well as historical audited accounts; assisting in the preparation of credit approvals and financial analyses to support deal structure evaluation; preparing and sending price quotations to customers on certain transactions under the supervision of the TSC TRA Front Officer; executing all KYC tasks related to TRA activity (launching AOF, responding to PCRU on KYC status); participating in the preparation of credit applications and spot approval requests for deal execution or line renewals; and gathering information to assist in management reviews and reporting (NBI, Tomcat clean-up, RWA checks, PCRU request responses). Candidates must hold or be in the process of validating a Master's degree (M2) from a Business School, Engineering School, or University — formal proof of M2 diploma validation is mandatory before the assignment start date (grade sheets are not accepted). Some market knowledge and experience in investment banking or financial services is expected. Full fluency in English is required. Candidates must demonstrate good communication and presentation skills and be proficient in MS Office. Applicants must be under 28 years of age and hold citizenship of a European Economic Space member state. Candidates may not apply for a V.I.E. assignment in their own country of citizenship. An 18-month V.I.E. assignment starting 1 November 2026 at Societe Generale's Geneva office, within a dynamic and internationally oriented Trade and Commodity Finance team. From day one, the candidate will be integrated into expert teams and supported in their daily tasks, with growing autonomy over the course of the assignment.
